Have you been captivated by a gorgeous indie-dyed skein of multi-colored yarn, but felt uncertain about how it would look in a finished woven piece? In this 3-day class you will learn how to control where the color falls to create a one of a kind scarf that has Ikat-like stripes or color blocks - your choice! On Day 1 fiber artist Rita Petteys will teach you how to create beautiful skeins of yarn - one a multi, one solid - dyeing the pattern you want in your choice of colors. The following morning, weaver and textile artist Nancy McRay will work with you to warp the Rigid Heddle looms, to produce your desired color effects. Weaving begins that afternoon and finishes on Day 3. The course concludes with show and tell and a discussion of other ways to apply the newly learned techniques. Beginners are absolutely welcome. No weaving or dying experience necessary. Students with prior experience will learn a few new tricks. Rita and Nancy will bring all supplies, included in the cost of the class.
