Learn the basic skills, tools, and vocabulary of bookbinding and book arts. This class shows you how to make your own books -- pages, covers, and bindings -- to be used as journals, sketchbooks, even unique handmade seasonal gifts. On day 1, you will create simple folded books, pamphlets, and accordion fold books, as well as a book with a decorative stitched binding known as a Japanese stab binding. On day 2, you will use the techniques from the first class to create Coptic stitched books -- an ornate exposed binding that was created nearly 2,000 years ago. All skill levels welcome.
