Do you know how to use a color wheel to help you achieve the color affects you desire in your fiber arts work? Join fiber artist Rita Petteys to expand your color theory knowledge in this one-day class! A discussion of the many facets of color: saturation, shade, tint, tone and complement, will be followed by hands-on work with provided samples to create different color harmonies such as complementary colors, analogous colors, triads, tetrads, and more. The concept of undertones will also be explored. Students will create and take away several samples from the class of color wheels and harmonies using different fiber arts materials and paper that can serve as useful references for future projects in knitting, weaving, dyeing and felting. Provided materials include pieces of silk, cotton fabric, fibers with various contents for comparison, contrast and future reference, and yarn varieties. Students will also receive bibliography with resource materials and links to websites and online color tools.
