Join Grammy-award winning conductor Jerry Blackstone for an intensive week of conducting, score study, master classes and rehearsals, culminating in a participant-led performance on the Interlochen Center for the Arts campus. Through a selective application review process, twelve participants will be invited to immerse themselves in the study of conducting on Interlochen’s beautiful and historic campus in northern Michigan. The Institute repertoire will include a cappella and accompanied choral works. Please see the Schedule tab for an outline of daily activities. The Institute Choir will be comprised of the accepted conductors and six invited choral artists.

Applicants should be experienced conductors, comfortable in front of an advanced ensemble of skilled singers and instrumentalists. Conductors will conduct in daily master classes, receive daily podium time, including feedback on gesture and rehearsal techniques, and conduct rehearsals with the Institute Choir.
